They are available around the clock. They fight fires, help in case of accidents, and respond to disasters. Voluntariliy and without being paid. The women and men as well as the juniors of the Wilnsdorf fire brigade voluntarily invest their free time in order to save the life and possessions of others in an emergency. Their motto: Don’t watch, act. According to this motto, Guntermann & Drunck GmbH from Wilnsdorf supports the local voluntary fire brigade to help its junior talents. (From: Annette Häbel)
Investment into a secure future
Each of the eleven districts of Wilnsdorf has a fire brigade or a firefighting truck as well as an own junior fire brigade preparing girls and boys for exciting tasks. In this context, for the committed trainer team it is not only about specific topics around firefighting but also about developing team spirit.
Unfortunately, the fire brigades also have difficulty in finding young talent. A problem that will concern the general public if qualified personnel is lacking in case of a fire or a disaster situation.
Guntermann & Drunck GmbH is also aware of this fact and therefore donated a considerable amount to support the junior firefighters.
At home around the world, rooted in Wilnsdorf
Guntermann & Drunck GmbH was founded by its namesakes in 1985. For more than 20 years the manufacturer of KVM hardware for IT applications with business relations worldwide has been based in the industrial zone of Wilnsdorf and is deeply rooted in the region. Luckily, Guntermann & Drunck has not yet had to resort to the services of the firefighters.
We know about the challenges involved in introducing young people to complex and technical professions. Therefore, we would like to support and strengthen the youth work of the volunteer fire brigade
Martin Drunck, owner and Managing Director of Guntermann & Drunck GmbH.
Unpaid and priceless
In the junior fire brigade, kids and teens learn at an early age what it means to take over responsibility and to help other people unselfishly. The number of yearly operations is steadily growing.
At the same time, the tasks of the firefighters are becoming more and more complex and it is getting more and more difficult to entice young people away from their PCs at home and their smartphones and to arouse their interest for voluntary work.
Today, the demands on firefighters are higher than ever. For us firefighers the ongoing technicisation and the enhanced safety awareness of the population mean that our tasks are steadily growing.
These tasks require a lot of time and, in the end, also money. Therefore, we are grateful for the support by Guntermann & Drunck
Teamleader of the Wilnsdorf fire brigade, Jochen Pieck.
