In mission-critical control rooms, where operations are monitored and coordinated around the clock, flexibility and efficiency are paramount. Whether in air traffic control, energy control rooms or other safety-relevant environments, the user-friendliness of the systems plays a decisive role in the efficiency of work processes. In this context, FreeSeating, as an exclusive component of the TradeSwitch function, offers quick access to the individually configured setup in large-scale matrix installations, regardless of the console at which the operator logs in.
What is the TradeSwitch function?
The TradeSwitch function allows users to combine several console modules (CON modules) into one workplace with multiple monitors. Users can control the workplace by utilizing one central keyboard and mouse. A specific console module within the group, known as the leader console, is equipped with a keyboard and mouse. Users can switch the input devices to any monitor to operate any module or computer in the group using a hotkey.
The TradeSwitch function further improves the user experience through the simple integration of CrossDisplay-Switching. With this feature, the mouse can be moved seamlessly across multiple connected displays. When moving the cursor from an active to an inactive monitor, the keyboard-mouse focus automatically switches to the respective computer.
FreeSeating – 3 benefits for your control room operations
By using the FreeSeating function, you can access an individually configured TradeSwitch environment at different workplace modules. The connected computer sources at the multi-monitor consoles are saved via the user’s access data. If a user logs in at another workplace, the system transfers the switching status to the new workplace. If the FreeSeating function is configured, the system can seamlessly restore the personalized working environment.

Automatic restoring of preferred settings
FreeSeating offers the flexibility to use the preferred TradeSwitch environment on different console modules. It eliminates the need for tedious reconfiguration by automatically restoring the most recently connected sources and settings. Furthermore, the innovative feature provides a simplified login process at each workplace and enables quick access to all important systems. This enables operators to fully focus on their tasks.

Seamless transitions for maximum productivity
By providing quick access to the preferred setup, FreeSeating optimizes workflows and increases productivity in different operational environments. With FreeSeating, users can instantly access their personalized work environment. This flexibility is indispensable, particularly in 24/7 environments where workplace transitions occur during shifts, necessitating seamless handovers of operations to subsequent users.
