G&D sets future trend: Type-C variants of the VisionXS product range for innovative control rooms

Our VisionXS series continues to grow. Modern devices can easily be integrated into the overall installation thanks to the new extender variants for USB Type-C.

Following the motto “smaller, more compact, more powerful”, we’re continually developing our compact product series VisionXS further. The high-performance KVM extenders are matrix-compatible and offer resolutions of up to 4K @ 60 Hz and a broad range of features for an optimal user experience. The systems are available in both variants, as KVM-over-IPTM systems or for classic direct transmission.

We’re delighted to be able to introduce the latest addition to the VisionXS family: the VisionXS Type-C computer modules. These revolutionary products enable modern sources to be incorporated, such as USB-C computers, notebooks, tablets and even smartphones, following the trend towards an improved and universal USB standard.

An investment in the future: the VisionXS with Type-C connection

The new USB-C standard brings considerable improvements. These improvements are exploited to the full by the new VisionXS and VisionXS-IP modules supporting USB-Type-C. The connection can be used to transmit video signals, keyboard and mouse signals and audio, all via a single cable.

VisionXS Type-C variants will be available in June.

Furthermore, even the module’s power supply can be provided via the connection. The Type-C variant transfers DisplayPort1.2 signals in Alt-Mode and supports a maximum resolution of up to 4096 x 2160 @ 60 Hz. Moreover, for the VisionXS series, we are using our tried-and-tested, lossless compression bluedec™ which enables authentic, pixel-perfect video transmission. In addition to the video signal and the keyboard and mouse signals, the computer module transmits embedded stereo audio and optionally the USB classes HID (human interface device) and mass storage device, all conveniently via one single interface. This saves cabling effort and makes installation easier.

Clever security features minimize risks in critical control rooms

The new computer modules are compatible with other G&D components and can be used either as an extender or in a matrix installation. You can choose between CAT cables or fiber optic cables, using IP-based or dedicated transmission.  All of our KVM solutions are designed for 24/7 use. They ensure that critical processes can be controlled reliably and without any disruptions. We’ve developed additional redundancies in order to maximize the reliability of the overall installation. The implementation of a transmission redundancy solution usually requires the use of additional hardware. Products of the VisionXS series offer integrated transmission redundancy without any additional hardware. The function can simply be activated via a software feature key. The feature can also be enabled afterward for the purpose of increasing the security and reliability of installations without any additional hardware costs.

With this strong addition to our portfolio, we are showing G&D’s innovative strength, and we are supporting our customers and partners to take one step further towards the control rooms of the future. Thanks to versatile, combinable VisionXS systems, we are able to offer the best possible solution, accommodating the specific application, existing IT structures and project requirements.

The new variants with USB-C support will be available in the series in June 2023.
