KVM innovations for control rooms at InfoComm Las Vegas

America’s largest AV trade show, InfoComm Las Vegas, will once again welcome numerous visitors from all over the world this year to exchange ideas on the latest innovations in AV technology. Under this year’s motto “Where the pro AV industry gathers”, we will also be showcasing our latest KVM and video processing solutions at booth W745 from June 12 to 14, 2024. The systems ensure the best possible system homogeneity and interoperability in control rooms and mission-critical installations.

The requirements for control rooms are constantly expanding as they become increasingly multifunctional and integrate a variety of technologies. The growing complexity presents employees with major challenges. They must simultaneously monitor multiple processes and manage signal administration as well as operations in parallel. To optimize the workflow of control room personnel and enhance working conditions, we develop user-friendly and reliable KVM products. These contribute to increasing the safety of the technologies used and promoting ergonomics.

The power of multi-viewing technology

The use of multi-viewing at operator consoles offers a decisive benefit for control room applications of all types, as it enables a clear display and efficient operation of a variety of processes. The technology allows multiple visual sources to be monitored and controlled simultaneously. This advanced feature can be used in surveillance systems or live productions such as concerts, sporting events or television broadcasts. Directors and technicians can monitor multiple camera angles simultaneously to quickly switch between different angles to choose the best cut, increasing efficiency and improving production quality. At InfoComm, we will be showcasing various solutions for these applications from our broad portfolio that meet individual requirements. Both local applications with a limited number of sources and complex and networked installations can benefit from the multi-viewing functionality. The impressive picture quality of up to 5K@60Hz and the unlimited flexibility in the arrangement of sources offer considerable added value by allowing active work and monitoring areas to be ergonomically designed on larger screens.

Limitless possibilities with the new DynamicWorkplace-CON

Introduced at InfoComm, the new DynamicWorkplace-CON can be seamlessly integrated with a digital G&D matrix system in a complete installation. The DynamicWorkplace-CON enables the consolidation of several CON modules and the associated monitors, resulting in an efficient, uncluttered and therefore easy-to-use working environment. It facilitates the display of all relevant information on one or more high-resolution monitors. This integration leads to a significant reduction in the physical workload for users, and at the same time improves reaction times for critical decisions.

The multi-viewing function of the workplace module makes it possible to operate up to eight sources on up to four monitors at the same time. The seamless integration into existing G&D matrix systems is specially designed for use in demanding environments. This innovation enhances the user-friendliness of the KVM installation. Users can adjust the arrangement of individual signal sources in real time, providing unparalleled flexibility and control without sacrificing the functionality of a classic KVM installation. The window manager of the new workplace module offers intuitive operation by allowing the free positioning and management of individual windows. It is also possible to arrange monitors as desired and move windows beyond the boundaries of the monitors. As the DynamicWorkplace-CON is connected to the KVM matrix system, the operator has access to essentially an unlimited number of applications to view and control over the four monitors.

In addition, audio signals, serial signals and USB devices from any source can be individually assigned and used. The DynamicWorkplace-CON offers users an ergonomic view of all critical data without having to divert their gaze from a central point. This leads to a significant increase in efficiency, security, and response time in control rooms.

Redefining workplace ergonomics with the PersonalWorkplace-Controller

The PersonalWorkplace-Controller combines multi-viewing control and keyboard-mouse interactivity for one or multiple operators or video wall displays. It ensures greater efficiency and security in control rooms: thanks to local integration at the workplace, users have flexible access to physical sources and streams. As a result, the video processing system is ideally suited for less interconnected work environments. Modified arrangements of operating processes also significantly improve workplace ergonomics. The real-time display of several computer sources on a large monitor, and thus the virtually latency-free operation of multiple computers via a single console, simplifies operations. In this way, active work areas and monitoring areas can be set up ergonomically on larger screens.

Moreover, the PersonalWorkplace-Controller offers flexible content transmission across various output devices. This enables users to access critical information from anywhere, be it on a laptop, smartphone, or tablet. This versatility proves to be particularly valuable in environments where mobility is essential.

The new PersonalWorkplace-Controller Professional Max was awarded at this year’s NAB Show.

We introduced seven new variants of the PersonalWorkplace-Controller, each meticulously designed to meet specific application requirements. These variants offer a range of connectivity options, accommodating anywhere from nine to twenty-seven sources. They also provide impressive display capabilities, featuring up to four 5K/60 outputs along with a mirrored HD output.

Furthermore, these new variants enhance input flexibility, supporting both direct digital video and fiber optic sources via the PersonalWorkplace-CPU-Fiber modules. These modules allow for looped inputs across HDMI, DisplayPort, and HD-SDI, providing comprehensive and high-performance connectivity solutions for any workplace environment.

Education and Networking

In addition to the consulting opportunities at the InfoComm booth, we offer visitors the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills through special training courses at the G&D KVM Training Academy. These courses offer practical strategies for the integration and implementation of high-performance KVM concepts in modern control room designs, delivered vividly by our experts in the field:

We also invite visitors to attend the “G&D German Premium Beer & Pretzel Happy Hour”. Attendees gather at booth W745 in a convivial atmosphere, enjoying premium German beer and pretzels while enjoying fellowship, exploring the ‘what’s possible with high-performance KVM’, and growing partnerships.
