Combining the workplace and sports? The Siegerland AOK company run, which G&D of course took part in again this year, combines these two areas in a great event.
With the starting signal, which was fired at 7:30 p.m. on June 14, 2023, around 8,500 highly motivated participants set off from Bismarckplatz in Weidenau on the 5.5 km (around 3 miles) route. As it was the first real company run after the pandemic, all participants and spectators were very joyful. And that wasn’t the only highlight: The company run celebrated its 20th anniversary this year. So, G&D was very delighted to sponsor this multifaceted event with a wide variety of participant groups, focusing on health, fun, and, of course, team spirit.
Motivated runners and cheerful spectators
There was a cheerful and exuberant atmosphere throughout the day, which immediately overshadowed the bumpy start of the runners. Spectators were spread out along the entire route, cheering on all the participants. In addition, every 300 meters there were various acts, such as bands, which also contributed to the high motivation with fantastic sounds.
But not to forget the weather, it was perfect for running. The initial concern of the runners about temperatures being too warm fortunately proved to be unjustified.
From professional runners to creative participants with fancy costumes to show off, there were all kinds of participants on the running course. Even with these different intentions for the run, all conquered the course together and gradually trickled into the finish line.
After the run-in, the pride of the participants could not be overlooked, even among the G&D team of runners who were beaming with joy. Cold drinks and delicious snacks awaited them at the G&D booth.
After-party with program
Afterwards, one of the most exciting parts of the program took place for all participants: The award ceremony. The most surprising announcement of the entire award ceremony was that this year the course record was broken with an amazing performance of 16:36 minutes. The G&D team was also successful, the fastest runner completed the course in about 26 minutes.
What could not be missed was the after-party, at which everyone celebrated the day together. There was also an occasion for chats with familiar faces.
All in all, the 2023 company run was once again a very successful event and we’re glad to have been part of it. We are already looking forward to next year’s Siegerland AOK company run.
